A film with an unusual idea and a normal ending. The reason is that, on a journey of two or more people, there comes a time when one understands deep down, we remain silent as boredom takes over.
Coming together with joy, boredom is just a matter of time.
Martin : Do you find me boring?
Anika : Compared to what? When you were young or…?
Martin : Yes.
Anika : You’re not the same Martin I first met.
Martin : Right… okay.
Martin is like that, he’s with his wife out of love, because she worries about her father’s funeral, because she takes care of the children…
He’s run out of things to show, he can’t talk to his wife anymore, he looks at his wife less often than he looks at his students, he wants to do something to change the current situation.
Growing up with the “good citizen” process, Martin seems to have forgotten something called rebellion, and the feeling of sadness is the same.
Martin doesn’t drink wine, only a glass of water because he has to drive, because he has work to do tomorrow, because sobriety allows him to forget grief.
A foolish event occurred when his friend learned a hypothesis:
Alcohol concentration in a person, if maintained at 0.05%, will make them feel comfortable, more sociable, more courageous.
They conducted experiments on themselves, coming up with a rule for the unpredictable: only maintain it until 8 p.m.!
You can find out more about this in Finn Skårderud’s psychotherapy.
Martin knows how foolish this is, but he has enough reason to try it, he gave a ridiculous example to his students after drinking: Who will you vote for among these three people?
- A person with physical disabilities, high blood pressure, deceiving his wife, addicted to alcohol.
- An obese person, who lost in the last 3 elections, depressed, and drinks a bottle of wine every night before bed.
- A person who doesn’t drink alcohol at all, a war hero, respects women, loves animals.
Yeah yeah, everyone chooses 3 in the end. Congratulations when you have chosen Winston L. Churchill, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Hitler.
But that feeling, it’s very different! Martin laughs more, students pay more attention to him, even his wife does.
It gets even more exciting when he maintains it at 0.1%, he decides to go camping even though his wife looks annoyed, her determination makes his wife interested, he regains attention from his wife because he has become a different person. He becomes dependent on stimulants to create a different individual, and the final result is:
Haha, a guessing game! But above all, let’s take a look at ourselves.
We depend on more things around us than we think: Music, video games help regulate emotions. Facebook helps with interaction. Food helps with growth. Parents help nurture. Cells help regenerate. The Earth provides a place to live.
Are you happy in this cage? Or are you trying to expand or escape from it? Dependency can always be beneficial or harmful, depending on your decision.”
